Annual IBDP Music Conference at BBIS

Wednesday, 18 October, 2017

Students from Grade 11 and 12 and music teachers from BBIS, the Berlin Bilingual School and the International School of Toulouse gathered at BBIS from Thursday 5 October to Saturday 7 October for our annual IBDP Music Conference. All aspects of the IB Diploma Programme course were looked at and guest speakers were invited to present on Arabic drumming (Sebastian Flaig), whirling dervish dancing ( Naïma Ferré) and composition (British contemporary composer Michael Zev Gordon). Students also attended a fabulous concert at the Philharmonie on the Friday night with Simon Rattle on the podium; it was a joy both to watch and to hear!

Student compositions were performed by Joe Houston, a phenomenal Western Art Music pianist resident in Berlin and London.

One of the other highlights of the conference was the student concert on Friday afternoon, with stunning performances by all!
