Mentors

Sara Enayssi joins the boarding team this year as a full time live-in boarding mentor from Tucson, Arizona.   Sara is married to a native Tucsonan, whom she met in 1998 while attending the John-F.-Kennedy School in Berlin.  Sara was born in Berlin to Lebanese parents and has five siblings.  Sara lived in Ottawa, Canada for five consecutive years and has spent the last eleven years teaching German as a foreign language in Arizona to students ranging from the first grade through to the university level.   She graduated with both a B.A. and a M.A. from the University of Arizona in German Studies and History and went on to receive her teaching certification for the Secondary Level.  Sara has always enjoyed working with children and young adults, volunteering for after school activities, such as musical theater and basketball.  She especially enjoys listening to music, singing and dancing.  Sara now returns to Germany, thrilled to embark upon this new adventure and excited to meet new people from all over the world.

Ala Mobedi worked as a boarding mentor and a teacher assistant in 2009/10. This year he moved with boarding onto the BBIS campus in Kleinmachnow and is working as a boarding mentor, sport activity leader and a substitute teacher. Born in India, Mr. Mobedi’s culture and heritage is Persian. When he was 5, his family moved to Australia. He graduated from Adelaide High School and attended the University of South Australia studying science. His love for sport led him to his passion and future goal: to be a teacher. From youth work and coaching he then worked as a Youth Project Officer for the Migrant Recourse Centre of South Australia. He moved to Germany to play professional football where he continued to coach and teach. Mr. Mobedi believes that in every individual lies a passion and ability to be great in one’s own way. As a teacher and youth worker he wants to instill discipline, nurture the passion and encourage students to fully achieve their potential both academically and socially.

Jane Squires was born in New Zealand, and, apart from living briefly in Australia and India, she lived in New Zealand until she moved to Berlin in 2006. Ms. Squires grew up in a little town on the East Coast of New Zealand where she spent her spare time dancing, surfing and involved in various creative projects. She then moved to Auckland to study Art, Photography and Film. Finally she moved on to Berlin to travel and see Europe. While living in Berlin, Ms. Squires has worked as a nanny and supported young people in taking part in creative workshops, working on school camps and canoe tours. Since January 2010 she has been caring for students in BBIS Boarding School. Ms. Squires sees creativity as a great outlet and she enjoys teaching and encouraging students to bring out their creative side. She also loves music and playing guitar and is hoping to inspire the students to pick up an instrument, or to help them find their own way to express themselves.
