China Trip 2018
On March 22nd, 16 BBIS students and 3 staff members filled with excitement jetted off on a 10 day journey to China. With much anticipation they leaped into the all of the sights that Beijing had to offer; climbing the Great Wall with gusto, savouring the taste of the infamous Beijing roast duck and exploring the Forbidden City, dining with a local family in a traditional house, riding a rickshaw, being awestruck by the skill of Chinese acrobatics, participating in a tea ceremony and strolling through the sublime Summer Palace and the Temple of Heaven.
With all of the sights of the capital explored, and selfied, our party headed off to Shanghai, where our homestay families and sister school awaited. Our time at school was jam-packed with many events, ranging from classes in the morning, calligraphy workshops, traditional fan dancing and a visit to the Shanghai museum. We were overwhelmed with the warmth and generosity of our hosts in Shanghai, as they introduced us to local life, cuisine, and the sights of this enchanting city. Some of these included the Yu Gardens, the Oriental Pearl tower where you can stand on the glass floor with a clear view a few hundred meters below you, the dazzling skyline of the Bund and Disneyland.
After a few wonderful days we bid farewell to our homestays and China, with many enjoyable experiences, new friendships made, and unforgettable memories! What a trip!
