New fundraising campaign for the school's 20th ANNIVERSARY GALA DINNER & DANCE

In autumn 2010, BBIS is going to celebrate its 20th anniversary. From a mere dream after the opening of the former GDR, and the humble beginnings of school operations in a small villa in Potsdam, our school has grown and developed into what we are today, a respected academic institution with an unmachted educational programme and campus on the Seeberg in Kleinmachnow. This is a reason for us to celebrate!

Therefore, we are planning a big 20th Anniversary Gala Dinner & Dance on 5 November 2010, to which we will invite all members of the BBIS community and representatives from all constituencies to celebrate with us.

FUNDRAISING CAMPAIGN "TAKE A SEAT "

In April 2008, Berlin Brandenburg International School (BBIS) celebrated together with over four hundred guests the official inauguration of its new three-gymnasium Sports Hall. Boasting various modern sports equipment, and equally usable for playing basket-, volley-, hand-, and fistball, as well as indoor football, badminton, and tennis, the facility has been used for BBIS PE lessons and extracurricular sports activities since then. Additionally, our Sports Hall has become the venue for tournaments between BBIS and other international schools from all over Germany.

As the facility was planned as a multifunctional hall right from the beginning, we have been able to hold a wide variety of school events there since its completion, such as conferences, assemblies, concerts, exhibitions, information evenings, and our graduation ceremony. The chairs used for these events so far are former hotel chairs that were kindly donated by the Kleinmachnow NH Hotel when they were replaced.

LEAVE YOUR MARK!

As many of these hotel chairs are already no longer usable; as the regular cleaning of the upholstery is quite expensive; and as the remaining chairs are not sufficient for further large events, we – with your financial support – would like to buy new chairs for our Sports Hall in the next school year. These chairs will have wooden seats and backs, chromium-plated chair legs, and can be connected to each other for order and stability.

With a donation of 100 Euro you can finance a new chair for the BBIS Sports Hall!

Each chair donated will have a permanent plate with the donor’s name on it. All contributors’ names will also be recognised on a plaque in the entrance area of the BBIS Sports Hall, in the newsletter Kaleidoscope, and on our website.

FUNDRAISING CAMPAIGN "KICK OFF"

In November 2006 we started building our new sports field and a triple multi-purpose gymnasium. The sports field, which was completed at the beginning of the new school year 2007/2008, consists of a full-size football field with FIFA-approved artificial turf (including two integrated youth football fields), a basketball court and a sand court for beach volleyball. The field is surrounded by six 400-meter tracks with plastic pavement. Facilities for high- and long-jump, as well as discus throw and shot put complement the range of open-air facilities. The bleachers, with 820 seats, and floodlights also prepare BBIS to host larger tournaments.

The construction of the BBIS sports field was a very cost-intensive project which will take several years to completely refinance. It is for this reason that we asked for financial support.

Altogether 8.230 € was donated.

FUNDRAISING CAMPAIGN "TAKE PART"

With the last day of school year 2006/2007, we finished our BBIS fundraising campaign, "Take Part", to support the purchase of high-quality sports equipment for the new BBIS gymnasium.

Altogether 79.967 € was donated.
