Apart from the wonderful BIMP weekend, we have been very busy in the Music department. Last week, Grade 8 went to the musical instrument museum in Berlin as part of their Renaissance Unit that they are covering in Music and Humanities classes.  Today, Sebastian Flaig, lecturer in oriental percussion at Global Music Academy and expert in Early Music and Milo Pablo Momm, expert in historic dance, came into BBIS to teach Grade 8 about Renaissance Pavane and Galliard dances. On Thursday the 19th of January, around twenty of our BBIS swimmers traveled together with their loyal mascot, the Panther, to Frankfurt for the GISST swim meet. Four teams, U14 and varsity in boys and girls, had the opportunity to compete against eight other international schools over the course of the tournament. The Berlin International Music Project - BIMP was founded in 2010 with the intention of creating a community music-making weekend with a quality Gala concert as a culmination. BIMP has developed over the past seven years and this year many schools from Berlin and Brandenburg will again be involved in the project. This intensive and fun music-making project gives young musicians the opportunity to meet and work with other singers and instrumentalists from the Berlin-Brandenburg area. Our graduating class did remarkably well in the International Baccalaureate exams: the IB Diploma Programme students completed the second time in a row with a 100% pass rate. The average grade went up by more than one point to 34.6 points. And we congratulate Carlotta v. G. who reached the maximum of 45 points! This puts her in a segment of less than 0.5% of the 150.000 IB DP candidates achieving a perfect score.
