Our Sprint Towards The Finish Line
Our Sprint Towards The Finish Line
After Easter, schools embark on the sprint towards the annual finish line. We know it is May when our Grade 12 students assemble for their final exams. It's an exciting time for the students, but also for you as parents and us as teachers too.
We should be excited but there is no reason to be nervous: assessment is the celebration of achievement. BBIS students have shown in the past that they are well prepared. As a cohort, the IB DP students last year were only beaten by one school and one point in Germany in their exam average grade. And the IB CP results were the best we had. So making sure the “kids” get enough sleep is the only thing we really can do for them at this stage.
The teacher and admin sprint includes planning curriculum, building renovations, and dates for events for the coming year. The general calendar for the next two years is on the website already.
Today you will receive a letter from the BBIS Board Chair, Dr. Frank Walter-von Gierke, regarding next year’s school fees. Please contact us in case you do not get this important message.
The last “Director’s platform” of this school year takes place on 16 May, 19:00, in the Primary Aula. We will round up the year with all info we have for you, respond to your questions and give you a sneak preview of 2017/18.
Wishing you a sunny long weekend,
PS. With the PTA Staff Appreciation Lunch and Summerfest fast approaching, please be sure to check out the latest PTA Newsletter for info on these events and much more.
Dear BBIS Departing Families,
As you begin preparing for your move from BBIS onto your next school, the BBIS School Counsellors would like to invite you to our ‘Moving On’ workshop on Friday 5th May at 8.15am – 10am in the red room of the cafeteria in house 2. We will be joined by the BBIS Asst. Registrar, Romy Poenisch and Jens Erwin from our Human Resources Office, who will be able to provide you with practical information and answer your questions regarding transitioning out of BBIS and Germany.
Following this, the School Counsellors will lead an informal workshop offering advice on what further steps you can take to make the exit transition process as smooth as possible for you and your family. Leslie Kamphausen, our College & Careers Counsellor will also be available to offer advice to our grade 12 parents, whose sons and daughters maybe leaving home after summer to move onto college, a GAP year or an apprenticeship.
We hope you are able to join us. Over previous years we have received some very positive feedback from departing parents who described the workshop as invaluable.
To reserve your seat at the workshop, please email Mr. Steve Gregory at email@example.com RSVP by 2nd May, pastries, tea and coffee will be provided. You can find information on the flyer attached.
Thank you very much for your support, we very much look forward to seeing you on the 5th May.
Yours in guidance,
