BBIS GmbH is an independently run, state-approved, inclusive, English-medium day and boarding school serving the internationally-minded community of Germany’s capital region and beyond. We are the first International Baccalaureate (IB) World School to be fully authorized by the IB organization to teach all four IB programmes covering the 3 to 19 age range. In the current school year 2020/21 our school teaches about 750 students who represent more than 60 nationalities.

Secondary School Counsellor DP/CP (f/m/d)

     Job Description      Your Profile
  • Provides comprehensive individual, group and career and college counselling services to meet the personal, academic, social and emotional needs of all grade 11 and 12 students
  • Where appropriate, consults parents, teachers and external mental health professionals as well as community agencies to enhance the learning and adjustment of students
  • Supports and advocates for grade 11 and 12 students in their transition from MYP into DP/CP and their post school preparation for Higher Education, employment and independent living.
  • Serves as liaison with the school through assisting the creation and implementation of intervention plans and attending Student Intervention Meetings 
  • Provides consultative support for DP/CP Faculty and the Secondary School Principal on all social and emotional issues in weekly team meetings 
  • Where appropriate, monitors attendance at counselling/therapy or other social service appointments
  • Fosters independent problem solving through a solution-focused approach
  • Works closely with the other teaching staff, school counsellors and head of department to further develop and enhance Social and Emotional Learning in the school
  • Implements and maintains evaluation and record keeping systems
  • Delivers the 4 domains of the ISCA Guidance Curriculum in grade 11&12, through in class guidance lessons and workshops for students and parents
  • Masters level degree in school counselling or social work or a related professional field, with a specialization in mental health or adolescent development
  • Minimum two years of experience working with adolescents in an educational setting
  • Experience in multicultural environments
  • Maintains appropriate professional boundaries and confidentiality
  • Adheres to exemplary practice in regards to Child Protection and Safeguarding
  • Exceptional English language abilities and working knowledge of German preferable
  • Extraordinary cross-cultural interpersonal skills and ability to work in teams
