Duke of Edinburgh Bronze and Silver International Awards
Must we always teach our children with books? Let them look at the mountains and the stars up above. Let them look at the beauty of the waters and the trees and flowers on earth. They will then begin to think, and to think is the beginning of a real education.
On 17 January, students came together with their parents and teachers, to celebrate the successful completion of their Duke of Edinburgh Bronze and Silver International Awards. In order to receive the award, those doing the Bronze Award had to complete three to six months of volunteering, physical fitness activities, and skill development, as well as undergoing two overnight hikes. Those doing Silver committed even more time, spending two nights under canvas for each expedition and doing at least six months of each of the activities. The 37 students who finished their awards in 2017 and 2018 had therefore definitely earned them! The certificate evening was a great opportunity to congratulate the participants on their successes and to thank the teachers who committed their time and skills to supporting them.
Well done to everyone involved!
