Our Grade 5s play an important role in our Primary School for being the leaders and role models for the other students. This week the spotlight was on them as they talked in assembly to the rest of their classmates and teachers about what they had learned by being away at camp in the first few weeks of the term…leadership, collaboration, trust and how it had helped them build stronger relationships with each other.
The Student Council also spoke in assembly and wanted to find out what the other students thought about the lunches we have in school and the cafeteria system. They recorded the questions and comments and will be formulating an Action Plan on how to make the lunchtimes more pleasant.
Additionally, this year in Grade 5 as part of our music curriculum, we are piloting an instrumental programme taught by music teachers from the Kleinmachnow music school. In the assembly, the students showed the instruments to the rest of the school and demonstrated how to play them.
