Residential Life

A vibrant, nurturing environment for your children to call home.

Life at BBIS Boarding balances a structured schedule with free time, fostering a ‘home away from home’ environment in which students have the support they need to feel safe and comfortable.

While every day is different, the scheduled moments offer the security of a routine. Here’s what a typical school day looks like:

Weekday afternoons are filled with art, music, drama and sports activities offered at school and in boarding. Our boarders can also access extra language instruction for German.

On weekends, we regularly take the students on excursions to experience Berlin’s diverse institutional, cultural and recreational offerings. We also offer a range of fun activities to keep them engaged.

Four or five evenings a year, we hold a “Culture Night” to celebrate the different cultures represented in boarding school. Students from one country cook a national dish together with the other boarding school students. They also decorate the dining room, choose culturally appropriate music and prepare a presentation and/or an activity for the boarding group.

We provide a biweekly cleaning and linen service, full meal service, comprehensive pastoral care and homework support. The morning and evening routines are supervised, as are weekends which regularly includes outings and activities.

Our boarders are asked to adhere to the BBIS Boarding School Guidelines, which outline our expectations regarding common values, acceptable behaviour and goal setting. These guidelines are set out in the Boarding School Handbook.
