The new school year has just started and to kick start our new Homeroom Programme in Grades 9 and 10, we invited the Swiss Leadership Academy to BBIS to work with our students. The goal of the hands-on workshop was to help our students better understand what Leadership means and how they can set personal goals to make the best use of their talents.
By playing team games which included puzzles, Lego bricks and bamboo sticks, students learned how to perform well under pressure and how to communicate well to accomplish goals.
One of the highlights of the workshop was the creation of a pyramid involving the whole year group to test their planning and communication skills. I am happy to report that out of 42 schools who have participated in this timed challenge over the years, our grade 10 students managed to reach 5th place.
I look forward to seeing how our students will use the acquired techniques in all areas of their learning: social, academic, artistic and athletic. To support all students throughout the year, the homeroom teachers in grade 9 and 10 will continue the goal setting with each student as part of the academic coaching process.
