My role at BBIS:

I am teaching secondary PHE.

When did you join BBIS?

The first time I joined BBIS was in January 2014. I joined the primary PE team for my final internship of my studies. This was for a total of 5 months. One year later in August 2015, I joined BBIS as an official staff member.

What is your background?

I grew up in the Netherlands in a city called Haarlem (west of Amsterdam) and lived there for all my life until I joined BBIS. I have two older siblings, my sister lives in Australia and my brother is still in the Netherlands. I completed my studies at the University of Applied Sciences in Amsterdam.

What inspires you in your professional role?

Seeing students becoming passionate about a certain sport. It is amazing to see students enjoy the sports that they play.

What are you passionate about?

This might not be a surprise but I am very passionate about sports! I like to see others play sports and I really enjoy participating in any sport. My main sports used to be swimming and football but in the past years I spend most time on running. In September 2021, I took part in the Berlin marathon which was my first marathon. I also really like to watch football and as many students already know, I support AFC Ajax from Amsterdam.

What makes BBIS special?

BBIS has excellent facilities and that allows us to host many sports tournaments in the gym as well as outside on the field/track. For me it is special that the BBIS students get so many opportunities to take part in extra-curricular activities, not only the ones related to sport.
