Is BBIS a bilingual school?
No. BBIS is an international school where English is the main language of instruction. We offer the International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum in English rather than a bilingual German-English curriculum.
What does an international education mean for my child?
At BBIS, students learn in an international environment alongside classmates from more than 60 nationalities.
Through the IB curriculum, students are encouraged to think critically, ask questions, make connections and develop the skills to become independent learners.
How is German taught at BBIS?
Students in Grades 1 to 10 spend 160 minutes – or two double periods – each week learning German. To ensure students learn at the right level, we differentiate between native German speakers and different levels of language proficiency.
Can my child study at a German university with the IB Diploma?
Yes. The IB Diploma can provide access to universities in Germany, provided the requirements for recognition in Germany are met.
Subject choices are important, and BBIS supports students and families in planning their academic pathway and university applications.
Do you offer after-school care?
BBIS offers an extensive extra-curricular programme after school. Participation is voluntary, and no additional after-school care is offered.
Do you offer care during the school holidays?
No. BBIS is closed during the school holidays and does not offer holiday care.
What should I know about applying to BBIS?
