IB CAREER-RELATED PROGRAMME
The International Baccalaureate Career-Related Programme (IBCP) is designed for students who wish to engage in career-related learning while gaining transferable and lifelong skills in applied knowledge, critical thinking, communication, and cross-cultural engagement. It is a framework of international education that incorporates the values of the IB into a unique programme addressing the needs of students engaged in career-related education. The IBCP programme provides students with the opportunity to choose their own journey; whether it is further / higher education, apprenticeships or employment.
Put your knowledge into practice!
Now More Flexible Than Ever:
IBCP students undertake two to four IB Diploma Programme (IBDP) courses of their choice*, a core consisting of four components and a career-related study. The course selection flexibility enables the students to play to their strengths and study the most relevant courses qualifying them for their future universities and careers. For CP students, DP courses provide the theoretical underpinning and academic rigour of the programme; the CP core helps them to develop skills and competencies required for lifelong learning; and the career-related course (BTEC Business) further supports the programme’s academic strength and provides practical, real-world approaches to learning. Furthermore, IBCP students also benefit from an internship opportunity during this programme where they get to explore their area of interest and gain first hand workplace experience.
Students take written examinations at the end of their IBDP courses which are marked by external IB examiners. The components of the CP core are assessed by the school.
A Bridge To University - A Pathway to Employment:
Future jobs need future skills and this relies on more academically strong and practically skilled graduates who are self-directed and confident in their fields. While the list of universities accepting IBCP graduates is growing on daily basis, one can also fulfill additional course requirements of many other universities while taking advantage of the career opportunities the IBCP programme brings along.
* Subject availability and possible course combinations vary each year.
