Open letter to the BBIS Community

Dear BBIS Community,

We are saddened by the events taking place in Ukraine. BBIS offers support for all those in our community who are directly or indirectly affected by what is taking place.

As a caring school, BBIS strives to create a safe, secure, equitable and inclusive environment where everyone is made to feel welcome, and where everyone belongs. It is our mission to inspire everyone in our learning community to be responsible, compassionate global citizens. These goals are all the more important during times of conflict.

Our School Counselling team has prepared plans and approaches to actively support our students, and please know that the counsellors are available to anyone who needs help and support. Our teaching staff have access to guidance for managing respectful conversations on difficult, controversial or emotive topics. And we stand ready to provide the guidance to help our young people process what is happening in the world outside.

The BBIS parent community has taken action and are supporting humanitarian aid efforts by collecting warm clothing, sleeping bags, blankets, food and other items that will be provided to people in the Ukraine.

This is a difficult time for many of our families and staff, but we can be thankful to be part of our respectful, caring, and understanding community. United, we can support each other.

Yours sincerely,

Nick Hazell
Director
