BBIS Online Learning Journey

Wednesday, 13 May, 2020

More than two months ago we started our online learning journey and it has been a huge learning curve for the BBIS community. Teachers, students and families took on this new challenge and embraced our new way of teaching and learning. The BBIS team prepared vigorously to assure our virtual learning program was going to be a success for our whole community.

For our students, every school day starts with a video message from their class teacher followed by the daily schedule. The school day consists of online and offline learning for which our students provide their teachers with evidence of learning. This may be a picture or video of the student working on the task or of the task itself, a response on Seesaw or a reply within a Google document. Students of higher years will upload their completed work on our learning platform ManageBac. Throughout the school day our teachers provide students with valuable written feedback. Our teachers also use video conferencing for online teaching, to provide real-time support with given tasks as well as for social interaction with their students.

Throughout this journey we have listened to feedback from students, families and teachers. Together we have fine-tuned our approach to find a good balance between online and offline learning, made the instructions for tasks simpler and adjusted the workload given to our students.

Thank you to our amazing BBIS community for embracing our new way of learning with such positive engagement.
