In April, our community came together to celebrate the creativity, identity and imagination of our Grade 12 Visual Arts students as they proudly presented their final IB Diploma Programme Art Exhibition.
Marking the culmination of two years of dedicated artistic exploration, the exhibition showcased each student’s technical growth, individual voice, and depth of inquiry. Working across a wide range of media - including photography, charcoal, acrylics, sculpture, graphite pencil, watercolours, chalk, oil pastel and pen and ink - our students expressed their unique perspectives through carefully curated displays.
The artworks explored a breadth of meaningful themes: mythical places lost to time; the beauty and symbolism of flowers; cultural heritage and familial bonds; bad habits and the seven deadly sins; academic pressure and wellbeing, the physical body; and nuanced reflections on identity, emotions, borders and the impact of stereotypes, discrimination and the oppression of minority groups.
Visitors were invited to experience up to 11 works per student, each accompanied by a reflective artist statement that provided insight into the creative process, personal research and intention behind the work.
This annual exhibition is more than a showcase of artistic talent - it is a wonderful reminder of how art can give voice to lived experiences, pose important questions and bring people together. We are incredibly proud of our Grade 12 artists, who approached this final milestone with creativity, courage, and care.
